Ajahnis Charley (they/them/that bitch) is an award-winning writer, filmmaker and comedian based in Toronto. Their docuseries In The Closet, produced by the National Film Board of Canada, premiered at the 2026 Inside Out Film Festival and has since garnered more than two million views online. They are Black, gay, non-binary, Canadian, short and a comedian—aka the most marginalized person on the planet.

As an actor, they starred in the HBO series Station Eleven and Bell Media’s sitcom Shelved, and as a writer they've worked on Bria Mack Gets a Life, Hot Globe and many other comedies that merge the political with the personal with the hysterical. Ajahnis is entering their fifth season writing for Canada's top sketch show This Hour Has 22 Minutes, and has won three Canadian Screen Awards for their work on the show. 

Ajahnis performs live, and is a Just for Laughs New Face: Canada. They have done acclaimed stand-up, improv and sketch performances for New York Comedy Festival, D.C. Sketchfest, Montreal Sketchfest where they won Best of the Fest in 2024, and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, where they received the Fringe Monkey Award for "Talented but Ignored." Just as good.

They make art about and for the queer community, having worked with the long-running queer institution Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, having been featured in Soulpepper Theatre’s Queer Youth Cabaret and having performed for Just for Laughs, which is also gay sometimes. Their filmmaking debut, I AM GAY, produced by the National Film Board says it all. They are gay, in case you didn’t know.
